Cora was born an only child to Dr. Willem and Egberdina Reilingh in Wemeldinge, Zeeland, Holland, studied nursing and married Jacob in the Netherlands, before immigrating to Canada in 1953 as a new bride. While raising a family, she returned to school to be re-certified as a nurse, then worked at various nursing homes, shared farm duties and tended large gardens with abundant fruits and vegetables that were shared to all who visited their farm. Cora was strong, hardworking, generous, quiet and preferred working in the background. She was a member of Beaverton Women’s Institute, Beaverton Historical Society, Beaverton Horticultural Society, the bridge club, a life member of the UCW at St. Andrews United Church in Beaverton, a church greeter, and organized funeral lunches and flowers and candles for church dinners. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lakeview Manor for the excellent care that Mom received over the past 5 years. Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Beaverton, on Monday December 12th from 12noon until time of funeral service at 1:00P.M. Private family interment Stone Church Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations in memory of Cora to the L.V.M Ladies Auxiliary, Beaverton Horticultural Society, or to the Brock Community Foodbank would be greatly appreciated by the family.
