Obituary for Gary Wayne Smith
Gary “Willy” Wayne Smith passed away surrounded by family on December 29th, 2023, at the Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital. He was 67 years young.
Gary was born on May 6, 1956 and lived in Beaverton his whole life. He attended Brock High School and eventually settled on a career in Heating & Air Conditioning. His love of the outdoors inspired his hobbies to hunt and fish, especially ice fishing. He was always a hockey fan, especially of the Philadelphia Flyers. Gary loved cruising in classic muscle cars, especially his ‘69 Dodge Dart Swinger - he loved his MOPAR! He also loved going to the drag races in Cayuga back in the day.
Gary will join his parents in heaven - father Orville Smith (1971), mother Isobel Reid (2023) and step-father Kenneth Reid (2016). He is also predeceased by brother-in-law Larry Apps (2016).
Gary is survived by his siblings - brother Ron (Dorothy), sister Carol (Jim), sister Judy (Tom) and sister Brenda. He was a proud godfather to nephew Jason and uncle to Trevor, Todd, Tara, Michael, Matthew, Brandon and Joel.
Gary’s memory will forever live on by his three children - Derek (Lisa), Deanna and Collin, and his three grandsons - Justin, Jaidon and James Jr. He will be remembered by the mother of his children, Kimberley Smith (Moorhead).
A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Beaverton on Tuesday, January 9th from 1 to 3pm. If so desired, memorial donations to The War Amps Of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences are welcome at www.manganfuneralhome.com
