Obituary for Maja Jenny Pedersen (Jensen)

Maja Jenny Pedersen (1928 – 2022) ventured peacefully to heaven March 3, 2022. Her son Jim was by her side in her final days and months, and she was comforted by the photo gallery of her large and cherished family on her wall. Her family was always her only priority, and she succeeded in convincing each of her eight children that they were her favourite. In 1957, at the age of 29, she was an adventurous and optimistic young woman who, along with her husband Carl Pedersen (1923 – 2010) immigrated to Canada from Denmark. They brought four little Danish girls across the Atlantic to their new home in Canada, where they added three boys and another girl. Maja always had her glass half full or over-flowing no matter what challenges came her way. An avid gardener and member of the Georgina-Brock Garden Club in Pefferlaw, a lover of nature, and simply a kind, genuine and positive queen mom. She will be greatly missed but the memories will be cherished forever. She is survived by her eight children: Inge (Dean), Grethe, Jonna, Else (Chuck), Jim (Sharon), Ivan (Lis), Brenda (Gord), Dennis (Barb) and 15 grandchildren, Linda, Diane (Chris), Carolyn (Mike #2), Natalie (Mike #1), Stephanie, Lisa (Anna), Brandon, Mark (Brooke), Andrew (Danielle), Thomas (Amanda), Bryson (Natasha), Meghan (Jay), Emily (Simon), Cambria (Joel) and Kirsten, and her 9 great grandchildren, Rachel, Owen, Mikey, Katie, Lucas, Erica, Cali, Juliana and Everly. She was blessed to have many other children who adored her by way of step and foster children including Meegan, Rob, Ethan, Shannon, Audrey, Ciara, Cameron, Cole, Brandon, Kaleb, Spencer and Callie. She was predeceased by her husband Carl (2010), and her seven siblings in Denmark. The last one standing, as she would proudly say. She spent her final two years at Moira Place in Tweed. Gratitude to the entire staff who provided loving care for her – thank you to all. In lieu of flowers, donations to your preferred charity are appreciated. Organizations that were close to her heart are the Georgina-Brock Garden Club, Indigenous peoples or your own preferred charity. Join us in a Celebration of Life for the queen of all moms.
