Obituary for Patricia Susan Smith

SMITH: Patricia “Pat” – beloved wife of Linda Miller passed from this world in the early hours of February 11, 2021, with her wife at her side. This kind gentle woman lost a brief, bitter battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Stan and Ruth (Norman) Smith. She is survived by her wife Linda, her brother Brian Smith, niece Margo Free and nephew Gavin Smith. She is also survived by Linda’s daughter, Stephanie Pence (Nathan) and granddaughter Mara, who loved her nana dearly, as well as the family terriers, Madeira and Redington (Maddy and Reddy). She leaves behind a host of friends and former colleagues and former students who will mourn the loss of a teacher and coach who spent her life inspiring the youth of Western Tech, Parkdale CI and Malvern CI in Toronto. A fine athlete in her own right, Pat was a member of Laurentian University’s Alumni Voyageur Hall of Fame as well as being Cedarhurst Golf Club’s Ladies Champion multiple times. She spent many summers as a Councillor and director at the Ontario Athletic Leadership Camp (Couchiching) and at the Glen Bernard Camp. She was surely met at heaven’s gate by a host of loved ones and the family’s beloved Westies, Bella and Sir Ichabod, who first introduced her and Linda. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather safely to appropriately celebrate a life well lived. As per Pat’s wishes memorial donations in her memory to
St. Pauls’ Anglican Church, Beaverton or Pet Pal Animal Shelter, St. Petersburg, Florida would be appreciated. Online condolences are welcomed at www.manganfuneralhome.com
