Memories of Bob Hayes

I first met Bob Hayes in December 1973 when he attended the wedding of his brother Bill and my sister Anna. I don't recall seeing him again until after my parents and I moved to Oshawa in 1981. Bob had a passion for harness racing and co-owned several standard bred horses with the driver Paul MacDonell. This led to my accompanying Bob's father Bruce and my parents to races in Toronto to follow the fortunes of their horses and made a few bets that made a small profit. After Bruce Hayes passed away my parents and I continued attending the races and my father would regularly check the race results to follow the career of Paul MacDonell. Other than at the race track, my family usually met Bob and Josie during the Christmas holidays and I have uploaded a few pictures of family dinners. Over the years my contact with Bob decreased and after he gave up his involvement in harness racing there was very little to talk about with him. But I received nothing but kindness from Bob and that is how I will remember him.
